Common Questions About Our New Partnership
Is Actor's Theatre of Charlotte closing?
No! We are becoming the resident theatre company at Queens University of Charlotte. It's been a long haul but we've had incredible support from our community. We look forward to hosting you in our new permanent home, the Hadley Theater!
My gifts were dedicated to creating a new theatre space, where did the funds go?
Building Fund gifts were used to pay for permitting fees, plans, surveys, and the renovation work that was done. Funds were also used towards rent on the space on Freedom Drive. ATC was able to leverage these funds to obtain a line of credit. We have not had to utilize this line as of yet, but it is a comforting resource to have. There is no question that without your support in our time of need, ATC would have had to cease production, and possibly close our doors permanently.
I have an outstanding pledge to the Building Fund, what happens next?
If you made a long term pledge, you have several choices. You may honor that pledge, with payment going to the general operating fund, or to another project of your designation. You may decide to withdraw your pledge, and ATC will be happy to honor your request. We are dedicated to the proper stewardship of your gifts, and will work with you to find a solution.
How will this partnership benefit ATC?
The Hadley Theater is a modern, high-tech black box. It’s versatility allows us to create a unique viewing experience for every show. The high-quality lighting and sound equipment has been made readily available to us, as well as tools, lumber, and other shop supplies. We will also have the opportunity to offer internships to Queens students and to support the University’s theatre department!
How will this partnership benefit Queens?
As part of the partnership, ATC will help produce two annual student productions and students will have the opportunity to audition for ATC shows. ATC will serve as a resource for internships and support of the theatre curriculum. In addition, alumni and aspiring playwrights of Queens' Master in Fine Arts program will be able to submit scripts for ATC consideration.
I still have questions. What can I do?
